Natural Monday

Happy Monday! hope all had a great weekend and set your clocks back an hour so you will be on time today (lol)  Once again I have resurfaced and this time I plan on sticking with it, blogging is my passion and it takes a lot of time and work and when things pop up in life sometimes it pushes me in other directions but (fingers crossed) this time I'm back for good.  Now that I've gotten that out of the way lets talk about Natural hair, Yes, it's been 5 months since my Big Chop and I"m still loving it, my hair is now  much thicker and has grown out quiet a bit and since it's Natural Monday I want to talk about another product that I've used to help me along the way, hopefully you will find it useful and can pass this along to someone you know who has gone natural.  As I posted here Miss Jessie's Products seem to really agree with my hair  they are a bit pricey, but for me they work, I mean hands down for my hair the products produce great results. The latest product I want to showcase is  their Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding, it promises to " transforms shrunken kinks to super shiny stretched out curls", and I would say for the most part it delivers. I am by no means and expert when it comes to natural hair I'm still for the most part figuring out what works and doesn't work for my hair and this,  I had to learn the hard way. When I first cut my hair several months ago everything I saw on YouTube or in a magazine article that said best for "natural hair" I jumped on it and in the process, I spent way more money then I ever did when my hair was relaxed (and trust me that was a lot) I had to learn my hair, and this was the winning ticket for me I now see the results I longed for so make sure you try out things and see how your hair responds rather it's hair products for the Dollar Tree or a higher end product, I use both as long as my hair is 1.) Moisturized  first and  2.) it helps me achieve the desired look/style I'm aiming for. So play with products until you find the winning combination that works for you hair.

In the after photos you really can't see curl definition but hair is fuller and curls more stretched out. So tell me what do you think Curly Pudding or not?

I'm All Ears: Statement Earrings

The latest craze in accessories have gone from the infamous "Statement Necklace" and made it's way to the ears, that's right the Statement Earring is here and is the current trend in accessories. Bigger, bolder, longer the flashier the better, and I am really digging this trend. I really try not to jump on a trend just because it's the latest craze, and only pull from a trend if I can relate to it and since I've gone natural (and loving it, I might add) this girl is really  enjoying her earrings, and with the colder months approaching  we may have to cover our rings with gloves but the ears are fair game. Take a look at few I thought were rather cute.

** I'm not topless I have on a halter dress, Just saying lol!!

What's your take on the Statement Earrings, do you plan on mixing them into your wardrobe?

Natural Monday

                                                                                  Baby Buttercreme

Yes! it's Monday and I am ready to get things started, since I've been natural for the past 3 and a half months, and finally except my hair after the BC (Big Chop) I am truly loving it more and more each day, and not to mention all of the support and tips I've learned from all of the other natural beauty's out there. Today I want to share with you a product that I am growing very fond of it's Miss Jessie's Baby Buttercreme . This product is a moisturizer which hydrates dry natural hair, it helps to restore moisture and has a great smell. I use it to retain moisture and also for styling and I think anyone who is going natural will Love this product just as much as I do, another point I want to make about this product, is that it really brings out your natural curl definition once it's applied frequently, after I used it for a week consistently my curl definition drastically improved so this to me is a plus.  If you have yet to try any Of Miss Jessie's products this one comes highly recommended. Let me know what you think of Miss. Jessie's products if you've tried them or if there is something else that you are using in you natural hair regimen I'd love to know. Happy Monday! and to all my natural Sistah's embrace your Naturalness LOL!!!

Pursuing My Perfection!

**

Hi guys! First off I want to "Thank" all of you who have followed Nothing Ordinary Style and from time to time maybe even left a comment or two. I have started a major journey in my life that's well needed, it is for the last time to lose weight and acquire a healthier lifestyle. I'm at a point in my life now that I'm finally ready I know a lot of you maybe thinking what is it now to be ready for, but unless you've battled weight issues of your own or have been close to someone who has you're probably unaware of the battle and toll it can take on someones life. I have started a new blog where I will be chronicling my journey of this process. Thanks again for supporting Nothing Ordinary Style and trust me she is not dead but just on hold while I take care of me for a moment won't you join me on my journey at Pursuing My Perfection

** About the photo above I simply found it moving, and my thoughts on it are this sometimes to be your best and to reach your goals you have to sacrifice something and go through pain and for the ballerina of course it's her feet, but I took this picture in for myself it may look ugly and hard now starting off , but the end results will be beautiful and so worth the pain.

Thrift Thursday:Flowers and Chains

It's Thursday yeah! one day away from the weekend and even though we had a short week I'm ready for the weekend.  I really love to thrift I'm amazed sometimes at the things I find like this top for instance, I picked it up at one of the local thrift stores and even though it may appear  to be a recent/newer top  it's actually vintage and a one piece that looks like two pieces, I was extremely happy when I found it and it's great condition, whoever owned it obviously didn't  wear it much and that works just fine with me. If you've never tried a thrift store check it out, you may be surprised at what you find.

Tea Time Tuesday: Head Banging!

Queen MugHey guys, hope everyone had a nice 3 day weekend and Memorial Day, I sure did the family and I went to Atlanta for a wedding and a little chill time and I must say 1 more day to relax from the weekend would have been nice lol! When I returned home and began to unpack I came across a few headbands I purchased earlier this year that I'd forgotten about. I was quiet surprised at how many I have and the variety. I said to myself after watching clips of the Royal Wedding I wanted to find an extreme hat like these but while I'm searching I think these head bands will do. Let me know what you think extraordinary or not ? I want to know your thoughts.

Tea Time Tuesday:No Peanut Butter Required

Queen Mug

I don't know about you but I certainly remember jelly sandals from back in the day I had almost every color and oh yes, I also remember that when it was really hot outside they burned my feet, well it's a new day and jelly's have come along way and now designers such as Kate Spade, Gucci and Juicy Couture have released a new kind of jelly sandal that's not only fun, but also stylish and fashionable . These  by Juicy Couture are my favorite and with these old school inspired sandals all you need is a popsicle and a worn pair of jeans for a perfect summer day.

What do you think will you be getting your "Jellies" on this summer?

Sweet Monday?

red white and blue cheesecake a Taste of Home
      photo: Taste Of Home Magazine

Happy Monday, hope you guys had a great weekend I sure did, It was a lazy weekend with the family  relaxing, watching movies and reading, We even skipped church on yesterday just to chill out at home. Sometimes we get so busy doing things until we miss time to relax and do nothing and I must say this weekend it felt good! Now this brings me to today's post Sweet Monday, now if that's not an oxymoron (lol) for some reason Taste of Home Magazine just started sending me issues I never requested, I don't know why but they have; the issue I just received for June/July had such a beautiful picture of a fruit covered cheesecake on the front cover it awakened the Martha Stewart within me, (for real) so the hubs and I went out Saturday I picked up the ingredients a spring form pan and $41 dollars later, yeah $41 dollars later we were back home the whole time we were shopping my husband is asking "Are you sure we're going to like this?" I replied in my most confident voice "Boy, quit playing of course we are!" but in my mind I was saying please God, make this come out fine and thank God it did, Yea!! so well in fact I thought this would be something to share with you. I Got my "Paula Dean on!" yesterday and my husband was quiet glad  he had spent $41, Check out this Red White and Blue Cheesecake recipe from Taste of Home magazine (on cover) recipe details on page 29. One thing I want to say about this cheesecake it weighs about 3-4  lbs and you will have to do a extra workout after eating a piece, just thought I'd share that with you.

Tea Time Tuesday: Coach, you've done it this time!

Queen Mug

I like most ladies would consider myself a  Coach  fan I have several items and really like the vast selection of styles and accessories they continue to produce and these shoes for Spring 2011 have my heart racing I adore them. What is it that I love? the fact they they are wedges I'm crazy over a nice pair of wedges and these have me really crazy. Take a look at Maleena and Jade if you have to make one splurge this summer I would highly recommend either of these they will set off any summer outfit from a night out on the town for dinner with friends,  a great picnic or  even a evening play the possibilities are endless. What do you think about these wonderful wedges they are certainly not ordinary!

Nothing Ordinary Hat's

I know everyone was so excited about the Royal Wedding and to a certain extent so was I, but what really rocked my fashion boat was the over the top hats. I mean everywhere you looked these tiny works of magic were perched on top of almost every woman's head and I loved it, the two that intrigued me the most were worn by Princess Beatrice and Eugenie the daughters of  Prince Andrew Duke of York and Sarah, Duchess of York and were designed by hat designer Phillip Treacy who says “How a hat makes you feel is what a hat is all about. “It’s about making you feel like a million dollars so when you’ve got something beautiful on your head and the head is the most important part of the body to embellish, because it’s what you meet. When you’re wearing something on your head you feel beautiful.” I totally agree with Phillip, these are extraordinary hats and I live for the extraordinary.  I think we should take notes from the attendees of the Royal Wedding and really dress  formal when were invited to  formal affairs, this type of dressing with the hats and gloves is a lost art and should be displayed more often.  These haute hats really inspired me to start adding to my collection so tell me ladies what do you think about these anything but ordinary hats?

Friend Friday: Rules of Engagement

Rules of engagement

It's Friday yesss! and this is not an April Fools prank I am actually  participating in a  Friend Friday post. It's been a minute I know, but this weeks questions were to good to past up. Let me refresh you on Friend Friday it was started by my girl Katy over at Modly Chic it's a way for fellow bloggers to connect by answering 5 questions each Friday and sharing their answers on their blogs now that you're all caught up on the flow of Friend Friday check out my answers.

1. Guest posts are a good way to gain new exposure. What do you think
is the appropriate way to go about securing a guest spot?

If you are going to do that type of post I think it's great if you already have a relationship with the host of the blog and you've communicated well in advance so there is a relationship established which always makes things easier.

2. Leaving comments is essential to growing your blog. But how can you
leave a comment without coming across as ‘Follow Me. Follow Me!’?

Simple don't ask, I believe if a person is going to follow my blog they are following it because they like the content of it not because I asked them to. Yes, we always want comments in our blogs I mean that's why we put in the countless hours that we do because we want others to enjoy and appreciate it but asking for followers on any platform Fb, Twitter, Google follow for me is a NO ! I follow because I want to and I want others to do the same, no pressure.

3. We’ve all gotten a mass email at one time or another asking for
blog exposure, a link exchange, etc… But the mass emails don’t work.
How do you make your email stand out from the crowd?

I guess I don't, I simply send it, is this something I should be working on?

4. In interacting with other bloggers where do you draw the line
between seeking support and begging for exposure?

This is such a good question as I still consider myself quite new to blogging, only 2 yrs in thus far. I can remember being very new to blogging when I came across a blog I really liked, I left a few comments and from what I gathered I guess maybe one too many, I just really liked the content, I never asked the blogger for anything, I followed on Twitter only and it was like I was a stalker I just got what I call the bloggers draft I guess this blogger thought I was a stalker, I don't see how but I could just sense I was not the audience she was trying to attract, c'mon now bloggers you can sense when you are not wanted, at least I can so this made me a little leery when it comes to asking fellow bloggers questions. I know everyone is not like that but it made me cautious.

5. What’s one rule of engagement error you made and how have you
remedied that?

Following people in hopes they will follow me, I learned this early on I follow the blogs that I like, that I can relate too and  inspire me and now I don't look for anything in return if they follow.they follow. One lesson I've learned what's for me is for me , nuff said!

If you would like to participate in Friend Friday go on over to Modly Chic Katy will give you all the details.

Have a great weekend, see ya back here Monday!

Spring has Sprung and Nine West get's it!

I love shoes, I mean really, love shoes like most women right? but these killer Nine West 70's Platforms are the joint! I love the two tone color pattern and I like the fact that they have a chunkier heel which means  comfort to me. I can see these being worn with a  summer dress or a cute pair of jeans cuffed with a great tee and jacket. Anyway you work these hot little numbers I guarantee you come up a winner. Note to self add Nine West 70's platforms to my must have list for summer. It is important that you find a great shoe for this summer that you love and are comfortable.  When searching for that great pair of shoes make sure they have some color stay away form the basic black and white if possible and get a hot shoe that speaks to your style.

Got your eyes on a cute pair of shoes this spring ? let me know what are some of your favorite shops for shoes.
